    NAWGJ Online Education Clinics

    Test Prep Series, Brush Up Series, and a Bonus Surprise

     

    NAWGJ is offering two series of online clinics: (1) Test Prep and (2) Brush Up for the Season. Both series use Level 10 rules. In addition, we added a Bonus Round on beam and floor that should be exciting for judges with any rating, Level 4/5 through Brevet.

     

    Test Prep Series:   Round 1 ended last week.  Round 2 and 3 will start on August 22.  This series has three identical rounds. Therefore, CPE and PIP credit may be earned only one time per event (the same material is used in all three rounds). 

    Brush Up Series:  The Brush Up for the Season clinics will start on September 6.   This series also has three identical rounds.  Therefore, CPE and PIP credit may be earned only one time per event (the same material is used in all three rounds). 

    Bonus Round:  On September 22,  a clinic will be held on deductions that are common to both beam and floor:  e.g., artistry, body position, footwork.  This session is eligible for PIP credit for either Beam or Floor.  Join us to learn more about those "Other" deductions!

    PIP Credit: Group 3 National and Brevet judges may earn PIP credit AFTER they have completed testing.  Participation prior to testing will not count toward PIP.  A session completed prior to testing may not be taken again for PIP.  The clinic schedule has been designed to help judges fulfill their PIP in a timely and easily accessible manner. 

    Registration:  The clinics are offered at no cost to NAWGJ members as part of your membership fee but you need to register for each clinic you want to attend.   Please click on the name of the clinic(s) below and you will be taken to the registration page.   Please keep your confirmation email(s). The confirmation will be from Zoom in case you need to search your email for it on the day of the clinic.

    We compiled these lessons from the resources at usagym.org, nawgj.org, and various lecture material that has been used in Texas and around the country.

    Here is how it works:

    1. Order your compulsory book or get the compulsory app (or both) from USA Gymnastics.
    2. Upload Quizlet to your device to practice your deductions. (Directions are in the class)
    3. You may order a compulsory practice DVD from Winnie Witten or Bonnie Crawford so you can practice scripting and judging before you sit in the chair.
    4. Study the lessons.
    5. Take the test. Register on the usagym.org website. See How To Become a Judge (lesson 1 in the class) 
    6. Be sure to practice judge before you sit in the chair.
